Origins

The Enfield Cycle Company

Read the manufacturer through the machines that changed its engineering, racing, design, market or cultural meaning.

The Enfield Cycle Company produced its first motorcycles around 1901. The Bullet name became one of motorcycling’s longest-lived model identities and, through production in India, outlasted the decline of the original British industry. Modern Royal Enfield uses that continuity while creating new families such as the Himalayan and 650 twins.
